Amazon.com For years, as playlists and multidisc players put Led Zeppelin tracks into a mix, there was a perpetual need to adjust the volume when Zep came on. Their tunes languished in the haze of substandard remastering--until now, at least for the 24 tracks on Mothership and the final fullness of the new Song Remains the Same reissue. For its part, Mothership's crisper, warmer audio owes its heft to the troika of Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones, who helped oversee the mastering, bringing out untold shades even in the throes of "Heartbreaker" and the sinews of "No Quarter." It's an impressive sonic leap. Where tinny high-ends and muffled lows used to co-exist, fatter and louder depths prevail. It's ever more astonishing that Zep got on with just four blokes. You can quibble with the 24 tracks here (where's "The Ocean"?), but the band picked each track here, from the stone-cold locks ("Communication Breakdown" and "Stairway to Heaven," no, duh) to the robust throb of "When the Levee Breaks." As for "The Ocean," you can find that in fantastically full form, along with five other gems on the newly remastered Song Remains the Same, which shows up for 2007's holiday season on DVD, too. Only rarely have four lads from England made so memorable an auditory and visual blast. --Andrew Bartlett More from Led Zeppelin | The Song Remains the Same | Physical Graffiti | Houses of the Holy | | Led Zeppelin I | Led Zeppelin II | Led Zeppelin III | | Led Zeppelin IV | How the West Was Won | In Through the Out Door |
Product Description Led Zeppelin redefined rock in the Seventies and for all time. They were as influential in that decade as the Beatles were in the prior one. Their impact extends to classic and alternative rockers alike. Then and now, Led Zeppelin looms larger than life on the rock landscape as a band for the ages with an almost mystical power to evoke primal passions. - from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame web page on the band s 1995 induction It's rare that a group can truly rock today s world, but the arrival of MOTHERSHIP, the first-ever comprehensive 2CD Led Zeppelin compilation with the soon to follow re-release of The Song Remains The Same on CD & DVD and a concert event reuniting Jimmy Page, Robert Plant and John Paul Jones qualifies. Produced by Page and mixed by Kevin Shirley, MOTHERSHIP's 24 monolithic tracks were selected and sequenced by the band, who also oversaw the painstaking remastering. Spanning their epic career, the unprecedented collection pulls immortal songs from all eight of the band s classic studio albums, one of the 20th century's most enduring bodies of musical work. Arguably the most influential and innovative rock band ever, Led Zeppelin has sold over 200 million records worldwide. They continue to inspire successive generations with their passionate, groundbreaking, genre-transcendent, mystic, heavy and blues-infused rock n roll. Forty years since they formed, the song indeed remains the same.
Album Description 2007 release, the legendary Rock band's first-ever comprehensive two CD collection. Featuring 24 epic songs chosen, sequenced and remastered under the band's direct supervision! 24 tracks including 'Whole Lotta Love', 'Black Dog', 'The Immigrant Song', 'Kashmir' and a little-known ditty called 'Stairway To Heaven'.

I forgotg
how many good tracks the Zep made, can't stop playing the 2 cds!
Wow May 20, 2010 PAC MAN (NEW YORK) This band doesn't really need a greatest hits. I mean every song on every album is basically awesome. That being said this compilation is missing some great songs. The remastering on this album is good, but I wasn't blown away. The package and overall song selection is nice. Well done lads, but where is FOOL IN THE RAIN? That song was huge.
great sound and value. May 18, 2010 Jose Luis F. Matti 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I recently got back into vinyl, starting with the reviving of my old sansui direct drive turntable and a couple of duplicate lp's a friend gave me to trim his collection. one minute into the first song i've played on a turntable in over 20 years, and i was hooked. the sound was absolutely incredible.
in the last 3 months, i have completely overhauled my sound system to bring out the best music i have ever heard, all built around vinyl now rather than cd, although i did include a decent cd player - why waste 20 years of collected music?
using a NAD 326/515 amp/cd player, B&W 685's, and a project debut III, I have what audiophiles would call a low end system (which in audiophile terms isn't a bad thing - most of the components are award winning pieces), and i've never been happier...
this is connected to the compilation in question because as i am starting a new collection, it is very difficult to spend big bucks to get every single album i want on vinyl, and compilations like these, although sometimes "lacking" in content (sometimes you want to listen to the songs that aren't part of their greatest hits), give you a lot of good songs with absolutely lovely sound. this compilation sounds great (although i haven't had a chance to compare with a good original pressing), and is beautifully packaged - for a price that's less than half of just one led zep album (led zep iv is over a 100 dollars on some sites).
if you have a half decent system and just one or two of their albums (or none at all) on vinyl, you won't go wrong with this set for now. enjoy the music!

The CD was in exactly the condition promised (100% perfect) and was delivered well within the specified time.
So for me this is precisely what i was hoping for and what i received. Many Thanx. Mike A. Gauteng, RSA.
