Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Nickelback have established themselves as one of the biggest rock bands in the world. With over 26 million albums sold worldwide they have made their mark in rock and roll history. Their new album, 'Dark Horse', is one of the most anticipated releases this year. The band brought in legendary producer Mutt Lange to produce the record with Nickelback and longtime collaborator Joey Moi.

5 out of 5 stars Just as good as All The Right Reasons maybe even better   November 20, 2008
T. Ulreich (IL)
All The Right Reasons will probably be Nickelbacks best album, but this is a close second. The only thing I don't like about this album is the name and album cover, couldn't they come up with something more creative? I loved the album cover and name for All The Right Reasons since day one and still do and I think its there best cover. The cover art here just seems bland and boring but its not about the cover its about the music and the music is the still the same old Niceklback we have grown to love. Also to the people who complain that Nickelback write the same album and same songs over and again there not the only band that does that AC/DC has made a 35+ career doing that and they still continue to put out great albums so whats wrong with that? Although I wish Nickelback would branch out a little bit and try something new but I've grown to accept it. I'm a long time Nickelback fan ever since I heard Leader of Men on the radio I knew this band had potential and I was right it seems they get better with each CD. Dark Horse is one of those albums that will grow on you which was the case for me. I didn't like it at first but the next go round I was hooked. I can't name the best songs on this album because they are all good and single-worthy which is why I gave the album 5 stars if I had to say a song I didn't like it would Burn it to the Ground I don't know why I just don't like this song. So for all who loved All The Right Reasons theres no reason why you won't love this album and be sure to catch them on there 2009 North America tour they are great band live.

1 out of 5 stars Where is the music?   November 20, 2008

The first two albums were great. So I went into this one expecting great things. Wow was I let down. The best part about the cd is the 2 seconds of silence in between each track. If you download this album illegally then send them a bill for the price of the CD-R. I was expecting another outstanding album from them but they didn't deliver.

4 out of 5 stars A Little "MUTT"in the middle   November 20, 2008
John P. Staltaro (Stratford,Ct)
Getting "Mutt" Lange nowadays to produce one of your albums is sheer impossibility. Just ask Def Leppard who have been after the man for years and come up with squat. After all the man has made his billions and is now kind of semi retired and living in seclusion going through a divorce with Shania Twain. His credits are endless....The Boomtown Rats, AC/DC, Def Leppard, Foreignor, Bryan Adams and has Produced such classic albums such as HIGHWAY TO HELL, BACK IN BLACK, PYROMANIA, & HYSTERIA. All of these albums have made these bands superstars in their own right and propelled them to sell over 20 million in record sales on each album. Can " Mutt" do the same for Nickleback? who knows? He must see something in them to produce them. Ive listened to this album 4 times already and its grown on me each time. I can hear the "Mutt " influence and his songwriting touches in some of the songs also. Im just glad this album didnt take 5 years to make. Which Mutt is notorious for. The Big hit " Gotta Be Somebody " is obviously made for radio play. It has hit written all over it. Im not going to say it breaks new ground . In fact it has an 80's type back beat with an up to date crisp todays style. Its a good song. Its a good Nickleback song, something new for them. I can see this song putting Nickle back on the map where even non rockers know who they are.
"Shakin Hands " Rocks ! Its a great rock song and it says to young fans....We havent abandoned you, even though were moving forward. I love the song . One of the best Ive heard all year.
" Never Gonna Be Alone" is a sweet ballad. Maybe directed towards airplay also. Maybe thats what Nickleback is aiming for .After what the last album did with " Photograph".
Last but not least my all time favorite on this album.....I LOVE THIS SONG...." THIS AFTERNOON" what a great song! Its funny ,you can sing along to it, its got a great memorable chorus. Its just a great song. Its just about having fun with your friends and forgetting about life for awhile.
All in all Id give this album 4 stars out of 5 . Go do yourself a favor and buy it. You wont be sorry. Who knows you may just be holding onto a classic. Mutt'll never steer you wrong.

5 out of 5 stars Harmonic Symphonies   November 20, 2008
Julie Phillips
You should buy this CD! This is a must buy for all...First of all this isnt your everday rock CD...this is,from the opening track, Something in your Mouth...till the last one..This Afternoon..a musical adventure!
This offering from the men hailing from Canada is amazing...Great lyrics trembling guitar rifts...awesome lead vocals..haunting background vocals..Thunderous drum beats..intermixed keyboards...it's got it all
ballads and pump your fist rockers..It's fun yet serious..It does what music is supposed to do...get in your Pysche..let you latch on the coattails of somebody who's talented enough to put it all out there and let us ride along as they take us on a musical journey...Just don't judge this CD based on there last CD..judge it on it's own..So buy it,put in on and hold the heck on!

2 out of 5 stars Sonically Phenomenol-Lyrically Repugnant   November 20, 2008
Luke Trout (Arizona)
Nickelback's lyrics get worse with every CD. Maybe these 30 plus year old wanna-be frat boys should try consistantly writing songs about things that really matter. I'm mystified by the "party all day and night till we can't stand up" songs that bookend the album and yet smack in the middle of the set is a song lamenting the OD death of a best friend. Go figure. It's too bad because Mutt Langes' production is sonically perfect.
