Virtual speaker/headphone just the ticket for Stereo buffs. September 6, 2010 Larry Wolford (Washington State) This a wonderful value. As an old audiophile who now lives in "a 55 plus" apartment complex, the Virtual speaker and headphone are just perfect. The surround sound effects are as good as most 5.1 set ups. I can use my two JBL monitors like head phones in a narrow listening space. My Beyerdynamic DT 880's also sound just great with the ambience of "virtual headphone." Sherwood has been around for a long time . I could imagine, listening at reasonable volume levels , most Stereo buffs will appreciate not having to run a lot of wires and messing with the endless variables of 5.1 sound, and all those dirty room acoustics. Two ears is all you have: "Whatta concept!"
All I need!! July 23, 2010 James Deering (Florida) I have been a longtime fan of Sherwood. For the money there is nothing else that comes close. I bought this to drive a set of Polk Atriums on the patio and they couldn't sound better.
By virtual they do mean virtual July 10, 2010 LLB (Columbus, OH United States) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The receiver is as described, but beware that by virtual they do mean virtual. If you have surround sound speakers, there are not actually enough speaker connections for that many speakers.
Great Value March 19, 2010 Peter Scheldt (Middle Tennessee) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
This receiver was exactly what we needed. We have two side speakers and a powered sub-woofer that we use with it. Nothing fancy. Hook up the speakers and our CD player and it works like a charm. The place where we have it (the aisle of our horse barn) is a dusty and humid environment where we have to replace the receiver every couple years. For the price of the Sherwood unit, it doesn't hurt too badly!
