| Editorial Reviews:
Amazon.com Of all the genres within electronic music, trance probably gets the worst rap. The music is guilty by association with the hippies that worship it with a religious-like fervor. And if executed poorly, its dramatic crescendos sound like pretentious, pompous pap. But a good trance DJ can save a string of the genre's records from falling down the drain of all-too-common gargantuan breakdowns and endless wind-ups. Paul Oakenfold might be the DJ to rescue trance from itself; Tranceport features a veritable who's who of trance records and producers--Sasha's remix of Gus Gus's "Purple," a few tracks from seminal trance producer Paul van Dyk, and the driving, impenetrable "Enervate" by Transa. Oakenfold's mixing is impeccably suited to trance: long, drawn-out bleeds of sound seep from one transcendent track to the next. --Tricia Romano
Album Description An essential collection of some of the worlds most talented progressive trance artists, featuring the style and ablility of Paul Oakenfold mixing classic tracks by Gus Gus, Paul Van Dyk and more. 1998 release. Standard jewel case.

Brilliant July 7, 2008 J. McCoy (Hawaii) If you were to only have a handfull of CD's to give to someone who didn't know anything about EDM (Electronic Dance Music) and wanted to know, this would be one. This album is a MUST HAVE for anyone who truly loves EDM. I have read other reivews about it and I must say I cannot say anymore. It has already been said. Stop reading reviews...look at all the 5 Stars and click purchase..you won't regret it.
Classic "Trance"... July 5, 2008 Clay G It's all been said here with the hundreds of reviews since 1998, 10 years later it still "feels good". I dare say, Oakenfold emerged as THE top global DJ during these years and America (I am American) came to discover "trance" music years later around 1996-97 after the movement started as early as 1992-93 in Berlin and London (Sven Vath - My Name is Barbarella 1992). Energy 52 - Cafe del Mar track is also circa 1993 and was the first "trance" video I ever saw on MTV2. If you'd like to back up and add a classic to your your collection, the "Tranceport" series helped start it all here in the USA.
10 STARS!!!!!! January 16, 2008 M. Ostria (sometimes here sometimes there) This is the best compilation of trance tracks ever. If anyone is interested in what trance or electronic music is all about this is the perfect starter.
Amazing October 13, 2007 Nigel Cammack (Germantown, MD) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
First of all I amazed that this CD is still finding it's way into people's households. I just brought this CD out of my lost book of CD's from seven years ago and am so excited that I have it again. This is definitely one of the best compilations of tracks out there and and awesome set to start or end your night of with. If you don't buy this than trance is not for you. If you are new to trance please listen to this and all I have to say to you is WELCOME to the music that I find AMAZING.
The "trance" album October 4, 2007 Jaime A. Garcia Cuello (Bogota, Colombia) This is the record all the others electronic dance music albums (specially the trance ones) should be meassure by. If You think that Trance sucks You have to listen to this. If You think (like Me) that the trance is the best style ever , You have to Own this!
